The world is headed towards a massive disaster and we’re doing nothing about it. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down.

Read more here:

“INCHEON, South Korea — A landmark report from the United Nations’ scientific panel on climate change paints a far more dire picture of the immediate consequences of climate change than previously thought and says that avoiding the damage requires transforming the world economy at a speed and scale that has “no documented historic precedent.”

The report, issued on Monday by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a group of scientists convened by the United Nations to guide world leaders, describes a world of worsening food shortages and wildfires, and a mass die-off of coral reefs as soon as 2040 — a period well within the lifetime of much of the global population.

The report “is quite a shock, and quite concerning,” said Bill Hare, an author of previous I.P.C.C. reports and a physicist with Climate Analytics, a nonprofit organization. “We were not aware of this just a few years ago.” The report was the first to be commissioned by world leaders under the Paris agreement, the 2015 pact by nations to fight global warming.”

It isn't like the temperature increase stops in 2040. It just keeps going up exponentially in a feedback loop. By 2045, much hotter. By 2050, SO much hotter. By 2055, maybe the Earth's surface will look like Mars?

    10/10 guys Cool

  3. Carey Roberts says:

The reason carbon taxes don't work.. government subsidies. In Canada tax payers basically foot the bill for our carbon taxation in provinces where we have them.. and also not mention no one is taxing methane. It shouldn't be a tax.. it should be a restricted limit backed with fines. Harder to trick tax payers because way too many people don't understand how taxation and government spending works.. they do get how penalty fines work, everybody hates a ticket and get how that works.

  4. Sujæl says:

Unfortunately, destroying our home is very lucrative. Greed has become such a publicly acceptable attribute and it is only a small matter of time before those largely responsible (ie. big oil) WILL have to face the consequences.

  5. Michael Withstand says:

DO AWAY WITH MONEY. Transcend our need for money. Work as one world. All resources are managed together transparently in the most accountable manner NOT involving politicians. Money got us here. We can save the planet if we do away with money.

  8. Gulliver the Gullible says:

Most of us will not be alive after 2040, so climate change is hardly a problem for us. Let future generations deal with the problems of tomorrow, as we have done. Working against climate change would bring horrible immediate economic problems for the industrialised countries, so the governments of those countries are well advised to deny climate change.

As light hearted as they tried to make that last point, the idea that that's a conversation that will be had by families across the planet if we don't do something is really sad..

  11. garbanzobeen beenzeen says:

Every time someone fills their gas tank, they are voting for climate change. Every fast food meal. Every hot shower. Every air conditioned room. Every time someone looks at their phone. It is all unsustainable, and as Obama said, "There is such a thing as too late."

  16. Quntico Qamiroquai says:

I find people ignorance about climate changes disturbing. You'll take the word of a greedy, paid slimy politician with no background in science or physics over the word of a scientist. Dumb asses think; "well it's getting cold so no climate changes, fake news"; climate and weather are two totally different things. Weather is unpredictable, however; climate is very predictable. If you're a non-believer just look at the planet Venus, it's greenhouse effects has made it the hottest planet in the solar system. Why, because the sun rays gets in but the heat can't escape the atmosphere raising temperatures to over 900 degrees on the surface. Okay so if you still don't believe let me dumb it up for you, think in common sense terms. If you abuse your car it will breakdown, if you abuse friends they will breakdown and not come around, if you abuse your home, things in your home will breakdown. So if you abuse our planet (which we are), it will breakdown too, it will get sick, and if all that ice melts on the poles where do you think the water will go? The coastal cities around the world will flood like: Miami, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, , Naples, New York etc. Where do you think those people will go? Rich greedy people never think past their money and material shit they own. If your palace and exotic super cars get hit by mother nature, you're no different then that poor person you look down on, because mother nature doesn't care about your millions or billions, she just destroy anything in her path. Wise up, there is a big difference between opinions and hard true facts. Do your own research and follow the truth.

  18. Manuel García says:

Well, mankind is selfish and greed. This will be the end of many living beings in the world. Bad news is that those rich cronies, their children will survive because they would amass all the resources available. So, if mankind survives, will be because those assholes.

  33. brentkn smith says:

If TYT want to sink the threat of Global Warming in, they will have to give the subject more air time. One 10 minute segment every few weeks is not enough. It only shows the TYT is not as concerned about Global Warming as they say they are.
TYT has to get their priorities straightened out. They have to decide which is more important.
The loss of human life or the loss on money.
So which one is it TYT?

  34. Jere Williams says:

Why does everyone have to throw insults? No one should be called stupid when not everyone knows everything. For one their background is a city that has a large carbon footprint, but I’m stupid and racist? You don’t know me. Water is rising in NYC not because of the arctic melting. It’s because the land is settling after the large amount of ice that basically bent this country like a couch cushion millions of years ago. After the ice has melted the weight was lifted and the land is settling out. We need to do something but you can’t just do whatever we think is right because we need to know the consequences of every possible solution. Also cities like the one in your background produce a lot of methane. No one is innocent in this and yelling at me to make change while you keep doing what you’re doing doesn’t solve anything. The left is always about change as long as someone else is doing it.

  35. Protagnis YT says:

Why not just buy O’Hair Air!?

  36. Kevin Maher says:

Crazy times! The unbelievable greed that runs this shit is astounding, do those idiots realize their kids and grandkids are going to suffer too? Seems not! I'm an old white guy, a Marine and a die-hard Liberal Progressive! I try to reason with trumpets and magas, 1. Their hate will not let them learn! 2., stupid can't be fixed so there is that! We hear you Cenk and Anna, thank you for keeping it 100%! I may be old but I am a Young Turk!
